The Technical Artist (Shaders / Optimization) is the bridge between art and engineering β ensuring assets look stunning while running efficiently inside Unity/Unreal and AR environments.
This role blends:
Shader creation
Material systems
VFX support

π Your Mission
Develop shaders, optimize assets, and build rendering systems that define the look and performance of Inkognido content.
You will:
Establish custom shaders and material pipelines
Optimize scenes, meshes, lighting, and effects
Improve performance across Realms, Echo Reality, and Deck experiences
Collaborate across artistic and technical teams to maintain consistent style
Your work determines both the beauty and the smoothness of the entire ecosystem.
π Responsibilities
Create custom shaders for characters, environments, props, and VFX
Build stylized materials or PBR pipelines based on art direction
Work with lighting and post-processing to establish mood and clarity
Profile scenes and optimize assets for CPU/GPU performance
Collaborate with engineers to implement rendering-side solutions
Support AR projection visuals (Echo Reality holographics, overlays, anchors)
Assist the VFX team with shader-based effects
Create texture compression strategies, LOD pipelines, and material atlases
Debug visual artifacts, lighting inconsistencies, and rendering issues
Document shader workflows and optimization standards
Build tools for artists to apply materials easily and consistently
You ensure the visuals are both beautiful and performant.
π§ Requirements
Must Have:
Strong shader authoring experience (HLSL, GLSL, Shader Graph, Material Editor)
Understanding of PBR, lighting models, and real-time rendering fundamentals
Experience optimizing scenes in Unity or Unreal
Ability to work closely with artists and engineers
Knowledge of GPU performance profiling tools
Strong technical problem-solving skills
Portfolio demonstrating shader and optimization work
Nice to Have:
Experience with AR rendering pipelines
Familiarity with VFX graph systems or Niagara
Knowledge of stylized shader techniques (ramps, outlines, dissolves, etc.)
Background in mobile or cross-platform optimization
Experience creating debugging tools or visualizers
Understanding of runtime memory and texture compression strategies
