We are currently seeking a dedicated Nurse Midwife to join our team at our Metro Detroit locations. In this role, the midwife will be essential in providing both medical care and emotional support to mothers and their families throughout the childbirth process.

Job Title: Nurse Midwife

Role Overview: A Nurse Midwife plays a pivotal role in ensuring the health and well-being of both mother and baby by delivering high-quality care throughout pregnancy, labor, and the postnatal period.

Key Responsibilities:

Prenatal Care:

Provide comprehensive prenatal care, including routine check-ups, monitoring the health of the mother and baby, and educating expectant mothers on pregnancy wellness.

Conduct physical exams, order diagnostic tests, interpret results, and track fetal development.

Labor & Delivery:

Offer continuous support to mothers during labor and delivery, ensuring both the mothers and babys safety and well-being.

Monitor labor progress, manage complications, and provide pain management techniques and emotional support.

Postnatal Care:

Deliver postnatal care to mothers and newborns, including physical assessments, breastfeeding assistance, and newborn care education.

Monitor maternal recovery and the newborns health, addressing any concerns.

Patient Education:

Educate mothers and families on topics such as pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, newborn care, family planning, and contraception.

Health Promotion:

Promote healthy living practices for women, including nutrition, exercise, and mental health.

Lead community outreach programs aimed at improving maternal and newborn health outcomes.

Collaboration with Healthcare Teams:

Work in partnership with obstetricians, pediatricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care.

Refer patients to specialists or advanced care when necessary.

Record Keeping:

Maintain accurate, thorough medical records for each patient, documenting all stages of care promptly.

Emergency Care:

Respond to obstetric emergencies, providing immediate care and coordinating with hospital staff or emergency services when needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree in Midwifery, Nursing, or related field. Certification from an accredited midwifery program.

Licensure: Current state licensure or certification to practice as a midwife.

Experience: Previous midwifery or maternal healthcare experience is preferred.

Clinical Skills: Expertise in prenatal, labor, delivery, and postnatal care, with the ability to handle obstetric emergencies.

Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for patient education and healthcare team collaboration.

Empathy & Compassion: Ability to provide emotional support and establish trusting relationships with mothers and their families.

Critical Thinking: Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities, especially in high-pressure situations.

Physical Stamina: Capacity to manage the physical demands of labor and delivery.

Cultural Competence: Respect for and sensitivity to diverse cultural practices related to childbirth and maternal care.
