Job Description

Summary: We are seeking an independent and motivated Business Development Manager with experience in the building supplies industry, particularly in selling to architects and designers. The role focuses on maximizing sales of our Commercial Roller Shade product line within the Northeast territory, which includes OH, PA, MD, NY, CT, MA, NH, RI, DE, NJ, VT, and DC. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the construction and bidding process and a proven track record in building strong relationships with architecture and design firms.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to exceed sales targets for the Commercial Roller Shade product line.
  • Maintain and build relationships with architecture and design firms, contractors, and facility end-users.
  • Conduct appointments and presentations with key decision-makers including architects, interior designers, and contractors.
  • Manage a territory covering the Northeast region, with 50% overnight travel expected.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Director and Inside Sales Representatives to maximize sales efforts.
  • Follow up on weekly quotes to improve quote-to-order ratios.
  • Prospect daily to uncover new business opportunities and develop relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Act as an industry resource, providing technical assistance and product recommendations.
  • Analyze competition and project specifics to optimize sales strategies.
  • Utilize internal resources effectively, including Account Managers, Technical Support, and Finance teams.
  • Perform AIA CEU Lunch presentations (minimum 6 per year) across the region.
  • Ensure all sales data systems are updated and follow company policies and procedures throughout the project process.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; relevant field experience may substitute.
  • Previous experience in inside or outside sales in a B2B environment, particularly in construction sales.
  • Experience in window coverings sales is highly preferred.
  • Strong background in prospecting, cold-calling, and business development.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently while also being an effective team member.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Must reside within the Northeast region or be willing to relocate within an agreed timeframe.
