Overall Objectives of Position The FSQA Manager is responsible for the daily management of all activities of the FSQA to include food safety programs specification adherence and product quality for products within their assigned facility. In addition, the FSQA Manager will oversee all special projects as assigned, departmental budgets, turnover, and safety. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position. The FSQA Manager is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable program. The FSQA Manager is expected to live the Purpose and Values of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and will go beyond the call of duty.
Primary Responsibilities of the FSQA Manager - Ensures daily oversight of production practices including cattle receiving requirements.
- Responsible for preoperational and operational sanitation.
- Finishes product quality and Food Safety Systems.
- Ensures all FSQA policies and procedures are followed.
- Monitors verification and documentation associated with adherence to government regulations.
- Develops, implements, and maintains the HACCP and SSOP based inspection programs.
- Ensures finished product conforms to customer product and label specifications.
- Reports product issues and audit results to plant and corporate FSQA plant management corporate sales and operations.
- Interacts with customers and their agents for product showings, plant tours, and audits.
- Visits to customer facilities initial product runs and investigation response to quality related customer complaints.
- Monitors microbiological results, conducting bacterial swabs, and generating shelf-life environmental graphs.
- Performs research and development activities and conducts and promotes sanitation trainings and education to employees.
- Responsible for implementing and maintaining food safety and quality programs and for selecting, training, and managing FSQA Technicians.
- Performs other duties as assigned by appropriate person.
Day-to-day Responsibilities - Supervises the applicable staff including but not limited to, general supervision, performance evaluations, leave approvals, and timesheets.
- Maintains good communication and positive relationships with Meat Processing Plant employees and customers to promote employee and customer satisfaction.
Education/License/Certification and Experience Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or four (4) years of employment experience in beef industry required.
- Must possess and maintain the following certifications: HACCP, SQF, AND PAACO.
- Three (3) years of protein and/or meat manufacturing employment experience required.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ supervisory experience in monitoring and coordinating the activities of subordinates.
- Previous employment experience in beef manufacturing preferred.
Skills Required - Must have knowledge to develop Plant’s HACCP, SSOP and SOP programs utilizing company’s resources.
- Must have a working knowledge of computers with the ability to work in a Windows environment with various software programs such as Word, Excel, etc.
- Must be able to generate spreadsheets and develop templates for use by plant management and corporate FSQA sales and operations.
- Must be able to work independently yet interact with many different facets within the organization and be the plant liaison to USDA.
- Analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Organized with unfailing attention to detail.
- Skilled in the operation of standard office machinery, including a calculator copier, facsimile, and other similar equipment.
- Ability to work in a high-performance, fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and independently.
- Ability to bend, lift, and stand for periods of time.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills. Must be able to correspond with all levels of management.
- Must be people oriented and relate well to people from diverse backgrounds.
Additional Requirements - Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
- Must possess a valid state driver’s license and an insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
- Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position.
