Position Summary:The Kids@College Instructional Intern(s) will provide developmentally appropriate instruction for the iSTEAM summer program and actively facilitate all designated curriculum while displaying creativity, energy, and enthusiasm. Kids@College iSTEAM summer program supports Grades K-8.
Essential Responsibilities:1. Instruct Classes: Candidate will instruct assigned areas of iSTEAM curriculum. Curriculum includes content areas of invention, science, technology, engineering, art and math activities for a specific age group and week. This includes but is not limited to following related curriculum and also building additional curriculum or activities as needed. Instructor will need to prepare materials, teach related subject content, maintain records and a clean classroom.2. Classroom Management: Provide a welcoming and positive learning environment for all children in the program. Effectively communicate recommendations and concerns to the PSC Kids@College Manager if/when they arise. Provide feedback and resolutions for issues with participants or activity assistants.3. Supervision of Students: Supervise assigned groups at all times. Students must never be left unattended, allowed to leave an activity or the building without an escort. Kids@College participants will be escorted to all assigned classrooms, weekly activities and bathroom facilities. Support participant check-in and check-out processes. Class assistants will be available to offer support in these areas.
4. Rules and Policies: Instructors will follow all PSC rules, policies, and procedures for the Kids@College summer program. Keep accurate daily attendance records, provide hands-on activities indoors and outside, and maintain a safe and stimulating environment. Staff is required to adhere to FERPA laws of privacy.
1. Educational background in early childhood and/or elementary education.
2. Training in child development, child care and safety, and the ability to develop and teach various subjects.3. Experience with working with school-age children and willingness to learn new tasks and functions.
4. Ability to communicate effectively – written and orally with staff, parents and participants.5. Maintain a great work ethic, and patience and participate enthusiastically in all Kids@College activities in planning and leadership roles.
1. Experience in training and development of K-8 curriculum.2. Experience in teaching STEAM/STEM curriculum.3. Instructional experience at a youth summer program for various age groups.4. Current Certification in First Aid and/or CPR.
Salary:$25.00 per hour
