Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced FHA Underwriter to join our dynamic team. In this role, you'll handle a range of mortgage loan documentation tasks, from conforming to complex loan packages. Your expertise will help us deliver high-quality underwriting while minimizing risk and maximizing our organizational goals. You'll use your extensive experience and judgment to make informed decisions and contribute to our mission of providing exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and Analyze: Assess loan applicants' credit histories, financial statements, and other relevant information to make well-informed decisions.
- Collaborate: Work with team members to find solutions or exceptions for denied loan files.
- Interpret Financial Documents: Analyze complex tax returns and financial documents with precision.
- Adapt to Changes: Stay updated on program changes and new guidelines, implementing them with minimal errors.
- Customer Service: Provide outstanding service to both internal and external customers.
- Knowledge Maintenance: Keep up with available loan products and current program and investor guidelines.
- Confidentiality: Adhere to confidentiality standards as outlined by security policies.
- Mentorship: Support and mentor Underwriter I's as needed.
- Utilize Systems: Use DU and LP underwriting systems effectively.
- Data Management: Enter, access, and retrieve financial data using computer systems.
- Team Collaboration: Foster constructive and cooperative relationships with colleagues and participate in discussions to improve departmental efficiency.
- Overtime: Be prepared to work overtime as needed to complete tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience: At least two years of experience in mortgage loan underwriting.
- Systems Knowledge: Extensive experience with DU and LP underwriting systems.
- DE Delegation: DE delegation required.
- Production Environment: Ability to underwrite in a production environment with minimum quotas.
- Guidelines Familiarity: In-depth understanding of FHA guidelines and a comprehensive knowledge of loan products.
- Quality and Communication: Maintain quality control standards while meeting production expectations. Exhibit professional communication skills in various formats including email, mobile devices, and in person.
- Multi-tasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize responsibilities, and work efficiently under minimal supervision.

Physical and Work Conditions

This position is based in a standard office environment, requiring some sitting and walking throughout the day. The role involves working at a computer terminal and may require occasional overtime to complete assigned tasks.
