Position Title Cost Accountant
Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our team. The Cost Accountant’s primary responsibility is to oversee and analyze the costs associated with each construction project, ensuring accurate cost tracking and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction project costing, budget management, and profitability analysis. You will work closely with project managers and senior leadership to identify cost-saving opportunities, improve profitability, and provide valuable financial insights for decision-making. The Cost Accountant’s scope of work includes job cost accounting, Accounts Receivable (A/R), and Accounts Payable (A/P). This role is reliant on the ability to work with QuickBooks Online, AccuLynx, and other operating systems.
Primary Responsibilities
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1-2 years of cost accounting, preferably in construction or a related field
- 2-4 years in an accounting role
- Manage revenue over $5M/year
- Familiarity with the construction accounting lifecycle (project budgets, change orders, billing processes, and job cost tracking)
- CPA/CMA and/or Master of Science in Accounting or Finance
- 3-5+ years of cost accounting, preferably in construction or a related field
- 4-6+ years in an accounting role
- Manage revenue over $20M/year
- Expertise with the construction accounting lifecycle (project budgets, change orders, billing processes, and job cost tracking)
- 3+ years of budgeting and financial statement management
- 3+ years in creating complex financial models, pivot tables, and detailed reports for project cost analysis and forecasting
