Overview: As the Beverage Director at Southern Chicago, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the beverage program, ensuring exceptional quality, profitability, and customer satisfaction. You will lead a team of bartenders and beverage staff, curate the beverage menu, manage inventory, and drive innovation in beverage offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Beverage Program Management:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive beverage program that aligns with the restaurant's concept and enhances guest experience.
- Create and update beverage menus, including cocktails, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic options, ensuring variety and seasonality.
- Staff Leadership and Training:
- Recruit, train, and supervise bartenders and beverage service staff.
- Provide ongoing coaching and development to ensure high standards of service and product knowledge.
- Inventory and Cost Control:
- Monitor beverage inventory levels and manage ordering to meet demand while minimizing waste.
- Implement cost control measures to optimize profitability without compromising quality.
- Vendor Relationships:
- Negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with beverage suppliers and distributors.
- Source new and unique beverage products to differentiate the restaurant's offerings.
- Quality Assurance:
- Maintain high standards of beverage preparation, presentation, and service.
- Conduct regular tastings and evaluations to ensure quality and consistency.
- Menu Development and Innovation:
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create beverage pairings that complement food offerings.
- Stay informed about industry trends and introduce innovative beverage concepts to attract and retain customers.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local alcohol regulations and health codes.
- Maintain accurate records related to beverage sales, inventory, and licensing.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Beverage Director, Bar Manager, or similar role in a high-volume restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Extensive knowledge of beverages, including wines, spirits, cocktails, and non-alcoholic options.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze financial data and make data-driven decisions.
- Certification in beverage management or sommelier training is a plus.
