Howell, NJ
Direct Hire

5 days onsite Monday-Friday

Job Summary: Are you passionate about fashion and have a keen eye for design? Seeking a creative and highly organized Assistant Fashion Designer to join our client’s dynamic team. In this role, you will work closely with our design and product teams to bring our seasonal collections to life. You’ll be involved in every step of the design process, from sketching to production, and will play a vital role in maintaining the brand's signature aesthetic.

Responsibilities:
  • Sketching & CADs: Create detailed sketches and color CADs that align with brand aesthetic. Assist in the development of new styles for each season.
  • Tech Packs: Develop initial tech packs, including detailed garment specifications, measurements, and materials, to guide the production process.
  • Sample Management: Track and manage all incoming and outgoing design samples, ensuring they meet quality standards and timelines.
  • Fabric Management: Maintain and organize fabric books, ensuring all seasonal fabrics and trims are accurately cataloged and accessible throughout the design process.
  • Mood Boards: Collaborate on the creation of mood boards that capture the vision for each season, including styles, fabrics, and trims. Use these boards to inspire and guide the design team.
  • Design Meetings: Prepare and organize materials and samples for design meetings, ensuring all necessary items are ready for review and discussion.
  • Brand Aesthetic: Develop your own design ideas while maintaining a strong understanding of brand identity and aesthetic.
Job Qualifications:
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in fashion design or merchandising, preferably with a focus on children's clothing.
  • Creative Skills: Ability to create original designs that align with brand aesthetic. Strong fashion sense with an eye for color and detail.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is required. Experience with tech pack creation and garment measurement is essential.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain meticulous records.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with the design and product teams.
  • Passion for Fashion: A genuine interest in fashion, particularly in children's clothing, with a desire to contribute creatively to the brand.
