Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting with the planning, execution, and evaluation of the activity program.

REPORTS TO: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :

  1. Manage with the residents’ activity program as directed by the Executive Director, including all programs (such as, but not limited to crafts, bingo, discussion, music group, etc.) May write the monthly newsletter articles, purchasing approved activity supplies, etc.
  2. Keep residents informed of schedule programs and complete any required documentation. Promote participation and resident satisfaction.
  3. Will be required to transport residents in a safe manner to activities and professional appointments within the guidelines established by the retirement community.
  4. Create new programs, trips, etc., in accordance with the needs and request of the residents.
  5. Support other departments as part of the team.
  6. Treat all residents with dignity and respect.

 

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS :

  1. Activity programming/recreation training and/or related experience preferred.
  2. Must enjoy working with the elderly and all who associate with them. Must be able to interact with residents who are highly susceptible to common illness without exposing them to additional health risks.
  3. Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner and have the communication skills needed to interact with the residents.
  4. Computer skills preferred.
  5. Must maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times and continually strive to improve resident satisfaction.
  6. Must have a valid driver’s license.
  7. Ability to assist residents on and off the bus, van or car and may be required to move or arrange furniture for activities and/or climb, stoop, lift, bend, kneel, push, and reach to carry out activities of a minimum of 50 pounds.
  8. This position is subject to both inside and outside environment conditions. Activities occur inside and outside the facility.
  9. Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, incumbent will possess the mental abilities and aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.
