Are you passionate about WordPress development and looking for a long-term opportunity with a supportive team? We're excited to invite a skilled WordPress Developer to join our Digital Services team. This is a long-term temporary position with the potential to transition into a permanent role. While our team operates mostly remotely, we value occasional in-person meetings to foster collaboration and team spirit.
About the Team:
Our Digital Services team is a close-knit group of four, including the manager. We manage over 7,000 websites, developing new sites, enhancing existing ones, and providing support through a ticketing system. You'll start by familiarizing yourself with our organization and contributing to our ongoing projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain WordPress websites with a focus on pixel-perfect design, based on Adobe XD or Figma.
Collaborate with our team to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
Utilize WordPress Block Editor and Full Site Editing features, working with our in-house university theme.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to WordPress theme development.
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met.
Ensure all websites comply with WCAG AA accessibility standards.
Create training documents for site owners to help them manage their sites effectively.
What We're Looking For:
A strong background in WordPress development, with solid HTML and CSS skills.
Proficiency in modern CSS techniques such as Flexbox and Grid layouts for performance optimization.
Advanced debugging skills and experience with developer consoles.
Knowledge of WordPress multisite setups and familiarity with both the block editor and classic editor.
Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Strong attention to detail and effective communication skills.
Experience with digital accessibility standards (WCAG AA).
Knowledge of WordPress plugins like Events Calendar and Advanced Custom Fields, with a focus on minimizing plugin use.
