Duties

This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary of the Interior (OS), Business Integration Office (BIO). This position may be filled in Reston, Virginia; Lakewood, Colorado; or a remote location determined upon selection.


This position is being advertised as both location negotiable after selection and with duty stations of Lakewood, Colorado or Reston, Virginia, with the option of telework. If applying to "negotiable after selection", this means that your duty station will be based off your home address and you will be a full-time remote worker. If applying to a specific duty station, you may be allowed to telework a set number of day(s) per pay period, with supervisory approval.


At the full performance level GS-13 the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop SAP ERP training materials to support deployment and production support training.
  • Develop, enhance, and deliver training programs in various formats such as classroom, e-learning, and on-the-job settings.
  • Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts to support training. Establish and maintain productive working relationships with internal organizations and attend internal/external meetings.
  • Write video scripts, create multimedia content, and design visuals for training materials.
  • Manage and coordinate a wide variety of training issues and activities related to the SAP ERP system.
  • Perform in-depth analysis to identify gaps in knowledge and skills. Create training programs to address identified needs. Ensure employees have an opportunity to enhance their performance and knowledge. Analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate training needs.
Salary Information:

GS-13:
$117,962-$153.354 per annum (Reston, VA)
$114,970 - $149,465 per annum (Lakewood, CO)
$88,520 - $115,079 per annum (Remote Location) *This is the base GS salary rate. If selected for a remote location, pay will be set according to selectee's geographic area.


First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position you must meet the (1) Basic Educational Requirements AND (2) Specialized Experience for the series/grade to which you are applying.



(1) Basic Occupational Requirement for Training Specialist (1712):



A. Education: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - education or a subject area related to the position to be filled.

B. Specialized Experience: Experience that demonstrated a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying Specialized Experience include:

  • Teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s).
  • Supervising or administering a training program.
  • Development or review of training/course materials, aids, devices, etc., and evaluation of training results.
  • Work in the occupation or subject-matter field of the position to be filled that required training or instructing others on a regular basis.
**In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, applicants must meet the Specialized Experience described below. **



(2) Specialized Experience:
To qualify for the GS-13 , you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience:

  • Preparing and editing training materials to ensure effective content, grammar, punctuation, and style;
  • Utilizing web-based tools and equipment including Ancile UPerform to author, develop, edit and present training materials;
  • Experience converting complex technical concepts into clear and concise language; AND
  • Utilizing technical skills to prepare video scripts, create multimedia content and design visual aids for training materials.
