Job Description

Job Summary

The Test Driver - Engineering is responsible for managing and executing tire vehicle testing across North America. This includes coordinating test schedules, acquiring test vehicles, procuring benchmark tires, collecting and analyzing test data, creating detailed reports, and communicating results to tire engineers. This role requires frequent travel within North America to various test sites and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent and accurate testing procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vehicle Testing : Oversee internal vehicle testing for ride and handling performance in North America.
  • Scheduling & Logistics : Schedule test tracks, obtain quotes from proving grounds, and manage the logistics of test vehicles, wheels, and tires.
  • Data Collection & Reporting : Collect test data, create official test reports, and communicate findings effectively to tire engineers.
  • External Testing : Manage external testing with third-party evaluators and coordinate snow handling and traction tests.
  • Collaboration : Work with internal and OEM test drivers to align testing procedures and evaluations. Collaborate with tire engineers to improve data collection processes.
  • Equipment Coordination : Arrange tire/wheel mounting and shipping to and from proving grounds.
  • Travel : Travel as required to proving grounds and test sites.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in tire vehicle testing, including ride and handling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office for data acquisition and analysis.
  • Strong ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn new testing methods and technologies.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience with automotive OEM tire testing.
  • Working knowledge of tire engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with tire mounting equipment operations.
