Location: Fully Remote

Job Type: Full-Time

The client is a leading game development studio dedicated to creating immersive and visually stunning racing simulation experiences. We are looking for a talented Technical Artist with expertise in shader coding to join our dynamic team.

Job Description:

As a Technical Artist specializing in shaders, you will play a crucial role in bridging the gap between art and engineering. You will be responsible for developing, modifying, and optimizing shaders to enhance the visual quality of the games. Your work will involve close collaboration with Art Directors and rendering engineers to ensure that the games achieve the highest possible standards of visual fidelity and performance.

Key Requirements:

• Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Technical Artist with a focus on Shaders. Prior experience as a Technical Artist with at least two shipped titles is desirable.

• Shader Coding (HLSL): Strong working knowledge of HLSL.

• PBR: Strong understanding of PBR theory and the construction of PBR compliant materials.

• Custom Game Engine Experience: Experience with custom game engines would be useful.

• Blender Shader Nodes: Proficiency using Blenders Shader Graph.

• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

• People Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills needed.

• Portfolio: A portfolio showcasing your current shader work and technical artistry would be helpful.

Key Responsibilities:

• Shader Development: Develop and implement high-quality shaders using the custom game engine.

• Custom Shader Integration: Work closely with the engineering team to integrate shaders into the custom game engine.

• Conversion to HLSL: Convert shaders created in Blender to HLSL for use in the game engine.

• Shader Modification: Modify and enhance existing game engine shaders to improve visual quality and performance.

• Optimization: Ensure shaders are optimized for performance without compromising visual quality.

• Collaboration: Collaborate with artists and engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to shaders.

• Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation for all shader-related work.

Useful Knowledge:

• Solid understanding of the performance requirements and constraints of current generation console and PC development.

• Experience with performance profiling and optimization tools.

• Strong knowledge of Blender.
