Surgery/Procedure Scheduler:
- Schedules surgical procedures at area hospitals.
- Schedules pre-admission testing. Ensuring adequate preparation for surgeries by scheduling the necessary equipment, time a surgery takes, and any preoperative orders needed prior to procedure.
- Serves as a liaison between patient and medical support staff.
- Obtains authorization for hospital admission from patient's insurance carrier.
- Coordination of surgical schedule with the providers and first assist. Organizes information needed for appropriate billing to include operative, pathology, and CPT code sheets
- Complete FMLA and/or short-term disability paperwork for surgery patients
- Provide return to work or extension notes
- Maintain the doctor's calendar for meetings, both for the practice and hospital
- Answers all incoming calls; assesses callers' needs and directs to appropriate personnel. Obtains and communicates messages in an accurate and timely manner.
- May be responsible for scheduling post-operative follow up appointments with Physicians.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 year of experience required, preferably in a medical office
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate up to date knowledge of the profession and industry
- Microsoft Office proficiency preferred
- Must be willing to travel between sites as needed
