Staff Representative 1
(Staff Rep 2 with experience)

Based in Middletown, CT

Connecticut Employees Union Independent (CEUI), SEUI Local 511, AFL-CIO represents approximately 4,000 maintenance and service workers in the State of Connecticut. CEUI is looking for a dynamic, charismatic individual to join our team as a Staff Representative . This Staff Representative position has a wide array of responsibilities. A good amount of travel within the State of Connecticut is required.

No experience necessary. However, we require an individual who will be committed to motivate, engage, and inspire diverse audiences in advancing labor’s goals. Individuals who have previous labor union experience can be considered for a Staff Representative 2 position during the interview process.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams
  • Attention to detail and the ability to balance multiple tasks
  • A willingness to work long and irregular hours and travel within the state

  • Ability to work independently, with solid self-motivational capacity
  • Computer and office equipment knowledge
  • Possession of a valid drivers’ license
  • Possession of reliable automobile or ability to obtain a reliable automobile

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Filing and handling grievances
  • Represent CEUI members at disciplinary hearings / meetings
  • Represent CEUI at various meetings and events
  • Participate in, organize and convene various CEUI sponsored meetings and trainings
  • Prepare and maintain paperwork / electronic records
  • May be required to assist in preparation for interest arbitration and/or objective job evaluation proceedings
