Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join a dynamic team in the healthcare industry. This position plays a key role in maintaining the general ledger, ensuring the accuracy of financial statements, and managing sales tax reporting and filing. The opportunity starts as a contract but offers the potential for permanent employment.

Key Responsibilities:

Accurately account for non-patient revenue, employee benefits, and non-salary expenses, including preparing and submitting monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and invoicing for non-patient receivables.
Prepare and review monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy.
Assist in preparing special events/contributions budgets and other revenue budgets, and participate in reviewing departmental non-salary expenses.
Review accounts payable before month-end for accuracy and during close for expense accrual purposes.
Manage positive pay uploads for all check runs and provide backup for banking needs using appropriate systems and tools.
Prepare and post entries for leases and utilities, maintain a quarterly future minimum rent expense schedule, and work closely with the property management agency for corresponding documents.
Document financial transactions by entering and securing account information.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations by studying new and existing legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on necessary actions.
Respond to inquiries about accounting procedures by researching and interpreting accounting policies and regulations.
Coordinate activities and answer questions from accounting clerical staff.
Preferred Experience & Skills:

Extensive experience in healthcare, hospital, or social assistance industries.
Proven ability in account reconciliation and preparation of journal entries.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
Familiarity with NetSuite and Oracle systems, and knowledge of Workday software.
Strong understanding of sales tax regulations and procedures, with experience in preparing sales tax returns.
