ABOUT THE CLUB:

Carriage House Club is a modern conception of a classic English social Club presented with a sophisticated, international elegance, luxury and an overlay of wit and whimsy that is a signature of both Palm Beach and English Club style.

JOB SUMMARY:

Note: this position pay is based on a base pay rate + gratuity.
Sommeliers must be humble and charismatic. They need to read the customers and ask the perfect question. Upbeat and positive must happen at all times. Sommeliers must be story tellers Sommeliers have an eye for detail, are highly organized, able to stay calm under pressure and has excellent time management skills.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Greet members/guests cordially and efficiently and provide accurate beverage service
• Able to explain and/or get answers to member/guest questions on food and beverage offerings
• Has very strong knowledge of wine from around the world
• Performs opening and closing procedures including but not limited to the setup and break down of stations, side-work, clearing tables and re-setting tables
• Be primary support for servers and implementing service to standard
• Manage the tables and work environment with compliance cleanliness standards
• Notify direct supervisor when applicable to assist in monitoring and maintaining the inventory of supplies
• Participate in teamwork and assist other departments when needed
• Check the quality of the final servings and resolve any issues
• Work diligently to achieve outstanding service quality
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES , EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Certification by the Court of Master Sommeliers or Advanced WSET Level 3 preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor under pressure
• Keen awareness of entire floor and stations
• Has an upbeat, energetic, authentic, and professional attitude
• Works as a team player, helps other members of the staff
• Must be able to multitask and work in a face paced team environment
• Able to work varied shifts and flexible schedules
• Strong organizational and verbal communication skills
• Excellent guest and employee relations skills
• Ability to satisfactorily communicate in job-related English.
• Able to lift and carry containers and equipment weighing 50-65 lbs
• Able to reach various levels ranging from overhead to the floor
• Able to work in environments with extreme temperatures
• Minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
• Certification and/or previous training in liquor, wine, and food service.
• Food handling certificate
• Certification in C.P.R. is recommended.
• Minimum 2-year(s) experience in high end restaurants and/or Country Club atmosphere.
