Job Description

Located in Northern California, the team at Joby Aviation is driven by our goal of creating an affordable, all-electric air transportation system. Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025.

Overview

We’re looking for a bold, innovative, and data-driven Social Media Manager to take ownership of Joby’s social channels. In this role, you’ll craft and execute a social media strategy that builds excitement, drives audience growth, and strengthens our connection with future Joby customers, globally.

You’ll be on top of the latest trends in social trends, unafraid to experiment, and eager to push boundaries as we build a culturally relevant and globally recognized customer-facing brand. In this role, you’ll collaborate with our in-house MarComms and Creative teams to craft compelling social content that’s aligned with our brand voice and company goals.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Visionary thinker. Someone who understands the power of storytelling and how to create a globally relevant and recognized brand.
  • Trendsetter. You live and breathe social media, staying ahead of emerging trends, platforms, and engagement tactics.
  • Collaboration pro. Experience working across teams to align content, messaging, and branding with broader marketing goals.

Responsibilities

  • Own and optimize Joby’s social media presence. Develop and execute platform-specific content strategies to drive growth and engagement.
  • Shape and guide content direction. Work with internal teams to ensure social content aligns with our brand voice, goals, and messaging while making it relevant to social audiences.
  • Engage with our audience. Manage community interactions, respond to inquiries, and foster meaningful connections as we build a global community of future travelers.
  • Leverage analytics and insights. Continuously monitor performance, refine strategies based on data, and drive best-in-class results.
  • Develop a paid strategy. Collaborate with internal teams to incorporate paid social campaigns that amplify reach and impact.
  • Expand Joby’s reach. Cultivate partnerships with content creators, industry influencers, and corporate collaborators to maximize brand exposure and grow our audiences.
  • Strategic & hands-on. Develop a high-level strategy and execute it with precision, balancing creativity with analytics.
  • Prepare for operational engagement. Lay the groundwork for customer service interactions and engagement strategies in anticipation of our commercial launch.

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in communications, journalism, marketing, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing social media for a high-growth or globally recognized brand.
  • Proven ability to drive organic growth and optimize content for different platforms.
  • Experience with paid social campaigns and analytics tools.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to craft compelling, on-brand messaging.

Desired

  • Experience with highly technical content
  • Familiarity with analytics and paid ad campaigns
