Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Senior IT Project Manager specializing in cloud application migration to lead the successful transition of applications for a key governmental agency. In this role, you will leverage your strong project management skills, comprehensive knowledge of cloud computing technologies, and IT project management certification to ensure a seamless migration process. Your expertise in Agile Project Management will be essential for guiding our cross-functional teams through this dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to create detailed project plans that encompass scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, ensuring successful application migration to the cloud.
2. Stakeholder Engagement: Foster effective communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including business leaders, technical teams, and vendors, to align project objectives and gather requirements throughout the migration process.
3. Risk Management: Proactively identify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, ensuring a smooth transition and minimizing disruptions.
4. Cloud Technology Expertise: Demonstrate a deep understanding of cloud computing platforms (such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) and their services, selecting the best solutions for application migration.
5. Team Leadership: Inspire and lead cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and quality assurance specialists, to successfully execute application migration projects, promoting a collaborative and motivated work environment.
6. Project Monitoring and Control: Keep track of project progress, milestones, and performance against established metrics. Implement corrective actions as needed to maintain project timelines.
7. Quality Assurance: Ensure that all migrated applications adhere to established quality standards and comply with security protocols, data privacy regulations, and industry-specific requirements.
8. Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and post-migration analyses, to facilitate knowledge sharing within the organization.
9. Advisory Role: Provide guidance and recommendations based on your expertise, supporting stakeholders with informed decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.
10. Earned Value Management (EVM): Utilize EVM methodology for effective project oversight, calculating variances, performance indicators (CPI and SPI), and monitoring project health within specified tolerances.
Required Qualifications:
1. Project Management Certification: A recognized certification in project management (e.g., PMP or PRINCE2 Practitioner) is essential, demonstrating your foundational knowledge of project management methodologies.
2. IT Expertise: A strong background in cloud computing technologies and platforms, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, along with familiarity with cloud migration methodologies and best practices.
3. Experience: Proven experience managing cloud application migration projects, with a track record of leading teams and engaging multiple project stakeholders, preferably within governmental settings.
4. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels, translating complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
5. Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking to identify challenges, analyze dependencies, and propose innovative solutions during migration.
6. Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources efficiently, and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
7. Cloud Certifications: Additional cloud-related certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect) are a plus.
8. Agile Project Management: Proficiency in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) is highly beneficial for managing complex cloud migration projects using iterative development approaches.
9. Extensive Experience: A minimum of 10 years of project management experience, focusing on Agile methodologies and conducting assessments in complex IT environments.
10. Data Analysis Skills: Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and generate actionable insights and recommendations.
11. Presentation Skills: Strong presentation abilities to effectively communicate project status and insights to executive and senior-level leadership.
12. Additional Certifications: Certifications such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), or equivalent are highly desirable.
