Senior Director of Education

The Senior Director of Education is responsible for overseeing the effective day to day operations of the Education Department and general administration of all instructional, business, or other operations of the Department.
CRITICAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS AND WORKFLOW INTERDEPENDENCIES
The Senior Education Director of Oak Hill Schools has contact with the Chief Administrator, Directors, Supervisors, employees, applicable agencies as appropriate and may have contact with any employee and/or person who are within the range of the Education Dept., Oak Hill School and Oak Hill.
TARGET OUTCOMES/MEASURES OF SUCCESS
- Mission and goals drive strategic educational programming in support of an environment of student development and learning, and as a result sustains and/or increases the Education Department and/or Oak Hill School student census and positively impacts Oak Hill’s community base.
- Effective planning of organizational systems, educational programs, and appropriate utilization of human capital and resources resulting in a managed budget.
- Leading, directing and mentoring directors supporting a positive administration and resulting in efficient operations of the Education Dept., Oak Hill School and Oak Hill.
- Maintain the Education Dept., Oak Hill School and Oak Hill’s positive public image; engage the community with appropriate media to ensure the public is well informed of all programming available at Oak Hill.
- Facilitate effective communication with the Chief Administrator to ensure information of importance is timely communicated, e.g. procedural changes, etc.
- Data for annual proposed budget is submitted timely to the Chief Administrator and maintains fiscal responsibility.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Accountable to the Chief Administrator for the administration of Oak Hill School; manages schools strategic mission and goals; assures day to day operations meet educational requirements according to the State board of Education and other relevant regulatory agencies, e.g. federal, state, local, and school systems as applicable, professional organizations, business firms, and the general public. Report all required information to the Chief Administrator as appropriate.
2. Maintain the effective plans of the organization, educational programs and services inclusive of: school records, system of financial accounts; business and property records; personnel records, school population and scholastic records; contracts, securities, documents, title papers, books of records and other papers on behalf of the Chief Administrator and as required by governing bodies and Board policies.
3. Manage the operations and activities of directors; ensure they effectively guide and coordinate operations and activities in education system and/or Oak Hill School; secure their assistance in evaluating and formulating ongoing programming; plan, monitor and implement current programs changes and initiate new programs as appropriate; determine and establish internal objectives for programs plans; evaluate directors and central office staff job performance; support and render advice to directors to support student population educational goals.
4. Promote Education Dept. and Oak Hill School through evaluating student referrals; establish and maintain liaison with community groups; develop and recommend to the Chief Administrator long-range and short-range plans consistent with current trends, community needs, and the appropriate strategic planning for the Education Dept. and Oak Hill School. Through cooperative leadership, internally, and externally maintain public relations to ensure the public is informed of all Education Dept. and Oak Hill School programs.
5. Keep the Chief Administrator informed of the Education Dept. and Oak Hill School programs; assure effective communications between the Chief Administrator, Directors and Supervisors. Communicate any changes in proposed procedures that would depart from established policy, and expenditure of substantial sums. In consultation with the Chief Administrator and President, responsible for preparing the Education dept. and Oak Hill School President’s report to be reviewed with the Board.
6. Work with the Chief Administrator in preparing the annual proposed budget to be submitted to Chief Financial officer and President within an adequate date necessary to provide ample opportunity for the Leadership Team and Board’s discussion and deliberation. Partake in strategic planning and general leadership of Oak Hill.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Master’s Degree and coursework required for appropriate certifications. 092-intermediate administration and supervision, 165, 265 or 065 special education endorsements; a minimum of seven years of increasingly responsible experience in education administration, five of which are at the managerial level, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
