RMD Pipe Welders – RMD Root & Flux-Cored Fill/Cap Specialists

Tarpon Specialty Services is seeking experienced and highly skilled Pipe Welders to join our fabrication team. We utilize a modern, high-efficiency welding process for pipe spools and assemblies, and we are looking for a professionals who are proficient in Regulated Metal Deposition (RMD) for root passes and Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) for the subsequent fill and cap.

Responsibilities:

• Perform high-quality root pass welds on pipe using the Regulated Metal Deposition (RMD) modified short-circuit process.
• Execute hot, fill, and cap passes using Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW-G or FCAW-S as applicable).
• Interpret blueprints, welding procedure specifications (WPS), and symbols to determine appropriate welding processes and dimensions.
• Prepare pipe and materials for welding, including grinding, cleaning, and fitting joints to required specifications (e.g., bevels, lands, and root openings).
• Operate and maintain advanced welding equipment, including multi-process machines capable of RMD and Flux-Cored processes.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and quality control standards.
• Inspect own work and ensure all welds meet NDT standards.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a pipe welder, with specific proficiency in RMD and Flux-Cored welding processes.
• Strong knowledge of pipe fitting and fabrication techniques.
• Ability to work in various positions (1G, 2G, 5G, 6G is a plus).
• Solid understanding of welding principles, metal characteristics, and quality requirements.
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and a good team player.

Mandatory Weld Test:

All candidates must pass a performance weld test demonstrating proficiency in the required procedures:

• Root Pass: Regulated Metal Deposition (RMD)
• Hot/Fill/Cap Passes: Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
