Job Description

Job Summary:
As a Reverse Mortgage Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth underwriting of residential loans, adhering to company policies, secondary market Investor standards, and regulatory requirements. You'll meticulously review loan applications and associated documentation for accuracy and completeness, collaborating closely with Loan Originators, Branch Managers, and Processors to gather necessary documents.

Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate loan applications and documentation according to HECM guidelines, company policies, and procedures.
- Maintain efficient turnaround times for initial decisions and condition reviews as per departmental expectations.
- Collaborate with Quality Control, Compliance, and Funding teams to resolve issues, assess risks, and ensure compliance.
- Develop and maintain a deep understanding of company HECM product guidelines and risk assessment tools.
- Adjust loan terms and identify additional conditions as necessary to ensure viable credit decisions.
- Assess borrower profiles, including income documentation, tax returns, credit reports, preliminary reports, and appraisals, ensuring all required documentation supports final loan decisions.
- Demonstrate proficiency in manual underwriting policies and procedures.
- Stay informed about secondary market trends, practices, and industry developments influencing underwriting quality and loan origination.
- Foster positive relationships with loan originators, management, and processors to facilitate smooth workflow.

Required Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in residential loan underwriting.
- DE certification and recent FHA underwriting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of FHA/HECM policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with fraud detection tools.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Prior experience in mortgage processing is advantageous.
- Ability to respond to repurchase requests and prepare rebuttal reviews.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze data effectively.

Work Environment:
This is primarily a remote position, requiring access to a quiet home office and reliable internet connection. Occasional local travel may be necessary for company or career-related meetings and events.
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $ 85.00 120.00 Per Hour
