Purpose and Scope:
Operate and maintain a USAF/USSF rescue boat recreational program. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
Essential Responsibilities:
Allow U.S. Government personnel only (that have acceptable training and experience) to check out USAF/USSF boats for recreation activities on a non-interference basis after they pass a check ride or skills test.
Comply with the Government’s water hazard safety policy on water entry and/or water recreation for their employees to mitigate the risk of accident or incident due to sharks, ocean currents, and other hazardous conditions present at AAAF.
Maintains log of all rescue boat usage.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Proven ability to operate and train others on the following boat classes:
(43' Class) inboard engine (diesel fuel)
(30'-27' Class) twin outboard (unleaded fuel)
(20' Class) twin outboard (unleaded fuel)
(17' Class) single outboard (unleaded fuel)
Scout outboard (unleaded fuel)
(55’ Class) Pontoon outboard (unleaded fuel)
Must be able to hookup and/or disconnect tractor-trailer combination vehicles.
Must be able to receive instructions/directions and provide progress reports via radio or cellular phone.
High school diploma or equivalent training/experience.
Ability to read and write English is required.
Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
Possess a valid issued driver’s license, passport from their country and could obtain a work visa.
Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
Prefer candidate who has experience working on a US Government contract.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies.
Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds.
Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable.
Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
