Private Home Healthcare Aide / PCA / DSP / CNA (PT / Flex)

Flexible Part-Time and As-Available Shifts Open | Individual Client at Private Residence | North Mankato, MN

PRIVATE CAREGIVERS NEEDED at a lovely estate with great pay and perks. This is a light-duty, part-time care position with many opportunities to relax, read, study, or catch up on a show. We're seeking high-quality, authentic people who enjoy seeing the difference they make just by being around. Direct care experience is nice, but we provide paid training to all our new hires, whether you're a philosophy student or nursing pro. What matters most is your character.

YOU'LL BE HELPING a man of young-professional age whose physical challenges have become limiting, but who is successful, kind, employed, funny, intelligent, and able to direct his care. Your help keeps him working and happy in his own home, so this is a rewarding opportunity to gain deep healthcare knowledge and experience by assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) and health maintenance.

PAY is $20/hr plus the following BENEFITS and PERKS :

CURRENT OPENINGS include the following. You need not take all of these; even one weekly shift would help. We will always try to get our best-fitting candidates the hours they need.

• Saturdays 8a-3p
• Sundays 3p-10p
• Also available: Tuesdays 10p-3a (partial overnight; see separate posting)
• Also available: As-Available Drop-In shifts (see below) and short 2-3hr relief shifts
  
  

You'll also be able to instantly learn about any open shifts. If you want a shift, you can take it; otherwise, no obligation. Typically, at least one shift per week opens up; many more in the case of illnesses, etc. Short-notice openings come with generous bonuses.

REQUIREMENTS include dependability and timeliness, good judgment, proactive communication with 100% English fluency, an easygoing personality, your own vehicle and smartphone, willingness to learn, and ability to briefly lift 50+ lbs. Applicants must be 18 or older, living within 30 minutes of North Mankato, and able to pass a thorough background check.

Description of Responsibilities

Primary Duties

• Provide general light-duty care and monitoring; check needs, wellbeing, and safety.
  • Be available during shifts to respond immediately to requests for help, expressed in person, by text, or by alarm.
  • Record health trends and chart major cares to monitor wellbeing and update other staff.
  • Relax in with the client or in staff area when not needed, or for breaks and meals.
• Assist with nutrition: simple beverage preparation and supplement/med consumption.
• Assist with use and upkeep of BiPap ventilator (humidifier, hoses, masks, filters).
• Assist with personal hygiene. This includes cleaning, grooming, dressing, and skincare.
• Assist with basic range of motion and physical maintenance (20min/day).
• Assist in repositioning or sitting up in bed and transferring to seated position.
• Very briefly lift or push up to 50 lbs with proper safe techniques.
• Assist with retrieving or using basic objects.
• Assist with basic toileting and GI care, including tube flushes.
• Maintain a hygienic environment by washing hands and disinfecting used surfaces.
  • Occasionally disinfect equipment such as BiPap and nebulizer.
  • Keep regularly used items clean.
• Assist with occasional basic household tasks.
• May assist with basic communication tasks. Study and understand procedures, routines, equipment, and techniques.
  

Secondary Duties (less frequent)

• Assist with basic occasional household maintenance, possibly including:
  • Household cleanliness: occasionally dust, vacuum, mop, or sani-wipe.
  • Remove obstacles and clutter or store items as directed.
  • Keep sinks and toilets, towels and rags hygienic.
  • Change and launder bedding.
• May assist client during occasional in-home visits or interactions with others.
• May assist in helping client move throughout his home.
• May assist in training other aides. May very rarely assist in managing phone calls, appointments, or scheduling.
  

Optional

• May rarely be asked to provide core duties in medical/hospital setting; only as mutually agreed, special rates and separate pay may apply. May rarely help with shopping.
