About the job:
Kent is looking for a Piping Designer I to be based in Houston, TX.

The primary responsibility will be to support a program that has projects within our client's facilities in the Houston area. This position will support the Piping Lead and Project Coordinator by creating 3D models and 2D drawings, attending site walks, taking field measurements, picking up drawing comments, revising client drawings, and other duties as required.

You must have a positive work ethic, good interpersonal skills, and good problem-solving skills. Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Experience performing scope walkdowns, taking field notes and measurements.
  • Responsible for ensuring project deliverables are checked and meet industry, client, and company quality standards.
  • Work with Lead Piping Designer in planning and design layout.
  • Meet schedule and budget of project design activities.
  • Capable of creating 3D models and producing 2D drawings from them in an accurate manner that meets the industry, client, and company quality standards.
  • Ensure that effective methods and design/engineering techniques are used.
  • Resolve design issues and problems.
  • Contribute to a team environment by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.
  • Perform other duties as required.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:
  • Minimum 5 years of piping design experience preferably in the Oil & Gas industry required.
  • In depth knowledge of computer applications for engineering design.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changes in technology.
  • Experience working with other disciplines and understanding their interface requirements.


Communication:
  • Excellent verbal, written communication skills required.


Behavior/ Core Competencies:

  • CADWorx experience required, Plant 3D experience a plus.
  • MS Office (Excel and Word) required.
  • Experience with PDF editing software.
