Job Title:  Payroll Manager

Location: Minneapolis, MN-  Please note: This role is only open to candidates currently residing in Minnesota or Western Wisconsin. Applications from out-of-state candidates will not be considered.

Pay Rate: $90K-$130K annually dependent on candidate's applicable experience.

Internal Job ID: 10053013

We’re partnering with a well-established, high-growth company with a national footprint to identify a Payroll Manager with strong UKG experience to support their evolving payroll function. This is a critical role within a collaborative, growth-minded organization known for its strong executive leadership and team-oriented culture.

This opportunity is ideal for a payroll professional who thrives in fast-paced, high-volume environments and brings experience with multi-state payroll compliance and UKG systems. While exposure to Canadian payroll is a plus, it is not a requirement. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, adaptable, and confident working cross-functionally across departments.

Please note: This role is open only to candidates currently residing in Minnesota or Western Wisconsin. Out-of-state applicants will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing for 1,000+ employees
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations
  • Conduct payroll reconciliations, audits, and reporting to support Finance and HR teams
  • Utilize UKG (UltiPro) to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and process optimization
  • Partner with HR, Finance, and Legal on internal controls, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Provide occasional guidance to other payroll staff; this role is not currently managing direct reports

Ideal Qualifications:

  • 5–7+ years of progressive payroll experience in a multi-state environment
  • Strong working knowledge of payroll tax compliance (Canadian payroll knowledge is a plus, not a must)
  • Proficient in UKG (UltiPro) for payroll processing and reporting
  • Experience supporting payroll for 500–2,000+ employees
  • Detail-focused with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach
  • CPP certification preferred but not required
