Job Description


Summary

Oversee out-of-school programs during the summer and school year. Manage day-to-day operations, including monitoring state license compliance, coordinating meetings, assisting in staff training, maintaining enrollment files and incident reports, and creating academic and enrichment programs for the participants and their families. Work collaboratively with ERfC staff, Enfield Public Schools staff and administration, and community partners. Oversee a broad range of programming including arts, recreation, academic support, enrichment, sports, career readiness, community service, life and wellness programs.

Duties

Essential Responsibilities
  • Remain on-site at all times during Center operation; in an emergency, contact main office to arrange administrative backup before leaving site, in order to comply with licensing requirement regarding presence of a head teacher-certified individual
  • Coordinate curriculum and projects based on funding parameters, staff skills, and available resources
  • Collaborate with the Community Outreach Manager and additional Center Administrators to develop and implement recruitment plans throughout the school year and summer to meet or exceed attendance mandates
  • Coordinate and follow systems for maintaining secure and accurate student records.
  • Keep a daily Center log of all incidents including administrative/teacher/staff conversations; parent/guardian conversations/calls; and other significant events
  • Work with students in a positive, firm, and consistent manner
  • Develop and maintain an electronic academic and social profile for each student enrolled
  • Complete necessary reports for grants and evaluations; provide weekly attendance reports to the administrative office
  • Provide leadership in developing and coordinating program activities with staff and community partners
  • Coordinate functions of program with the school staff
  • Handle, within 24 hours, routine contacts and inquiries from parents and school personnel
  • Assist the ERfC Registrar in updating student registrations; maintain accurate records of transactions in the daily Center Log
  • Maintain a record of phone calls and emails received and sent
  • Maintain a full inventory of supplies at the Center, neatly stored, and communicate any supply needs to the Administrative Office. Pick up supplies from the main office and transport to Center
  • Maintain and oversee all licensing requirements; assist the Licensing Coordinator in maintaining and updating as needed all CT Department of Early Childhood licensing forms and other paperwork
  • Maintain cleanliness of all classrooms and other areas/rooms used according to licensed space provided
  • Maintain logs outlining staff development meetings and trainings
  • Keep Center bulletin boards, main offices, guidance offices, and classrooms up to date with parent and student enrollment information
  • Assist ERfC Administrative staff in developing and implementing family activity programs
  • Follow and enforce all safety rules, practice safe work habits, and report unsafe conditions or any and all damages to the Childcare Development Program Manager immediately
  • Assist with the evaluation of Center staff, teachers, volunteers, and contracted individuals; promote professional growth of staff by example
  • Attend local and state training and workshops and other meetings for professional development as directed
  • Assist in outreach and engagement efforts, including family nights and special events
  • Attend monthly PTO meetings, special events (evening and weekend) and other ERfC events as
  • assigned
  • Oversee all Center staff; establish and maintain staff hours, schedules, and time cards
  • Welcome community guests and volunteers during Center operation; oversee volunteers at the Center
  • Confer with building principal as needed; attend school meetings as necessary; interact with school faculty and staff as needed
  • Promote and follow administration policies and procedures, building rules, and any other regulations
  • Provide content to the Marketing and Events Manager for marketing
  • Perform other duties as assigned for the OST Administrator position
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Team Leaders, Volunteers, Interns, and After School Instructors at assigned location

Requirements

Required Education and Experience
  • At least three years? experience in early childhood education
  • Associate?s or Bachelor?s degree in early childhood education or related field
  • Complete State certification as head teacher by November 1, 2024
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have required certification in pediatric CPR, first aid, medication administration, and epi-pen administration or willing to obtain
  • Must have basic proficiency in Microsoft Word, Publisher, Excel and Google programs
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Ability to escort children from location to location, inside and outside school building
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies, up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to demonstrate all activities to children, including arts and crafts and sports.
  • Must be available from for all training dates
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours as needed
  • Valid driver?s license and driving record which meets ERfC insurance carrier requirements
