Position Overview:

Responsible for providing technical support to operations management with respect to surveying, drilling and blasting, exploration, reserve evaluation, inventory management, and mine design for permitting and mine planning purposes.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions):

  • The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Conducts inventory surveys using drone and traditional surveying methods
  • Surveys various boundaries, limits, and topography for mine planning and property management
  • Prepare phased short, medium, and long term mine plans for operations management
  • Use mine planning software for various engineering projects such as overburden stripping plans, reserve estimation, exploration projects, and Security and Exchange Commission documentation as well as other CRH requirements
  • Promote and utilize technology, engineering, and other factors that could affect the costs, safety, and sustainability impacts of surface or underground mining
  • Serve on subcommittees consisting of employees of other CRH companies and fulfill obligations for various projects aimed at improving standards across CRH

  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the Key Responsibilities
  • Ability to be a self-starter and able to operate under general guidelines
  • Ability to learn under pressure and to complete tasks, with some guidance, accurately and on time
  • Developed oral, verbal, and written communication skills and an ability to work with management and peers
  • Capability to present plans to wide array of audience
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required
  • Share and document knowledge that promotes the current and future success of the engineering department
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Shelly Company employees
  • Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule
  • Basic knowledge of computer and web-based applications (e.g., CAD, AggFlow, Microsoft Office Suite, Talpac and Haulsim, drone software, etc.). Strong word processing skills
  • Ability to obtain Part 107 Drone License Certification
  • Must be willing to travel and work away from home regularly
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary

 

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, Geology, or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school. Basic knowledge of land surveying instruments, CAD, mine planning software preferred. Proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
