Job Description

Nobles seeks a dynamic middle and upper school choral director and middle school music teacher to join a diverse performing arts department that currently includes four full-time music teachers, two choral/music theory teachers, one band/jazz director, and one string/orchestra director. The Nobles music department is a highly collaborative team with opportunities to co-direct ensembles on domestic and international tours every few years, with recent destinations including Germany, Austria, Colombia, New York City, Bermuda, and Montreal. This is a full-time position, with shared responsibilities in the fall 2025 semester with the full takeover of courses and ensembles starting in spring 2026 upon a retirement leave. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach one section of 7th-grade and 8th-grade general music, respectively, serve as the director of vocal music for the annual winter musical in the upper school, and teach various genres of vocal ensembles ranging from popular, jazz, broadway, contemporary a cappella, traditional choral, and global music that comprise of singers with various levels of experience. 
  • Direct and inspire both middle and upper school choral ensembles, designing and implementing age-appropriate choral curricula that emphasize vocal technique, musicianship, and performance.
  • Continue a high level of positive collaboration and teamwork with other choral directors and vocal teachers.
  • Possess a breadth of musical knowledge and experiences that could lead to curricular development in the middle school general music classes, and/or in upper school performing arts offerings. 
  • Be a strong collaborative pianist who can assist with accompanying choral ensembles and assembly performances.
  • Have a minimum of 3–5 years of experience directing middle and high school choral ensembles.
