Title: Mental Health Counselor

Reports to: Clinical Director
Classification: Part Time Benefitted, Non exempt
Salary Range: $25 an hour (+ 5% differential pay if applicable to shift)
Shift: 11pm - 7:30am Varied Days
Position Description: This is aPart-timeposition with a variedworkschedule.Undersupervision ofthe Clinical Director, the Recovery Specialistprovidessupportand assistancetoclientsthrough individualand group counseling in acrisisortransitionalresidentialtreatmentprogram.
EssentialDuties& Responsibilities:
- Develop andmaintain a respectful,caring,tolerant,ethical, andempowering relationship with allindividualsserved.
- Establishandmaintain clear andeffectivecommunicationswithclients,ensurethat their needsaremet,assisttheminthedevelopment and implementationof theirtreatment plans, andpreparethemforthenextlevelof care orotherdischarge options.
- Documentclients'progressin programcharts.
- Assistprogram management in ensuring compliancewith all agencypoliciesandprocedures,contractual agreements, licensing and certificationrequirements,and local,state,andfederal lawsand regulations.
- Provideaccurate,timely,and completetransferof programandclientinformation tootherstaffasthey begin theirshift.
- Providecrisisinterventionas necessary.
- Remainalertandperformjobfunctions as assignedandas necessaryduringawakeovernight shifts.
- Orientnewclientsto the program,or,whenpossible,enableotherclientsto orientnewclients.
In conjunction withallotherprogramstaffmembers,activelyparticipatein theeffortto ensurethatthe facilityenvironment ishomelike,clean,safe,attractive, andcomfortableatalltimes.
- Notify programmanagementof allneedsforrepair ormaintenanceofthefacilityorprogramvehicles,involving clientswhenappropriate.
- Assistprogram management to create andmaintainasafe andprofessionalworking environmentfree of hostility,harassment,and discrimination.
- Facilitateand lead structuredprogramactivities,asassigned.
- Participate in staffmeetings andattendothermeetings, as assigned.
- Attendandparticipate in regularlyscheduled supervisionsessions.
- Attendtraining eventsasassigned, completing aminimumoftwenty(20)hoursof in-servicetrainingannually.
- Assistclientswithroom maintenance,laundry,meal planning andpreparation,shopping, andcooking.
- Participate in promoting asafe,healthy,andcleanworking environment atall timesconsistentwithapplicable laws,industrystandards and theagency’sown Health&Safety Program.
- Completeand submitaccuratetimesheetsand absencereportsto program management inatimelymanner.
- Promotewithinthe agencyandwiththepublicthe philosophy andpracticeof socialrehabilitation.
- Driveagencyvehicletotransportclients and on variouserrands,as required;documentingand reportingmileageaccording toagencyprocedures,so that servicescan beprovidedin a timelymanner;complywithagencyvehiclepolicy atall times;
- Activelynurtureandadvancethecooperative,harmonious, andteamwork-orientedenvironmentCaminarstrivestopromotewithin theworkplace; Through dailyefforts andpresentation promotean atmosphereof dignityand respectin linewith theorganization’smission,philosophy,policiesand procedures.
- Performotherrelatedduties,responsibilitiesandspecial projectsas assigned.
Experience, Qualifications,Skills& Abilities:
- MustbepassionateaboutCaminar'smission.
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred. If there is no high school diploma or GED, a minimum of one year experience or training related to mental health programs or shall participate in training provided by the facility. Such training/experience shall be in the direct provision of services to a program’s identified clients or residents.
- Excellentcomputerskills in a MicrosoftWindowsenvironment including email and Internetnavigation required.

Physical,Environmental and Mental Requirements:
- Physical:Occasionallyrequired to push/pullobjectsup to 50lbs, andtolift/carryobjectsup to25lbs.Frequentlyrequired to perform moderatelydifficultmanipulativetaskssuchas typing,writing,etc.Mustbeabletowalk,stand,sitforextendedperiods.
- Sensory:Frequentlyrequired to read documents,written reports,andplans.Mustbeabletodistinguishnormalsoundswith somebackground noise,as inansweringthe phone,interacting withresidentsand staff,etc.Mustbeabletospeakclearlyand understand/beunderstood using theEnglishlanguage.
- Cognitive:Frequentlyrequired to concentrateonmoderatedetailwith constantinterruption.Mustbeabletoattendtoa task/function for20-45minutesat a time.Frequentlyrequired to understandand relateto specificideas,several at a time.Mustbeable to remembermultipletasks/assignmentsgiven toself andothersover a periodof several days.
- EnvironmentalConditions:Frequent exposuretovaried officeandmixed (residential/office)environments.Occasionalexposuretotoxinsandpoisonoussubstances,dust,andloud noises.
- Equipment:Frequentlyrequired to useacomputer,phone,and fax machine.
SpecialRequirements:
- Mustbeableto meetandreceive acriminalrecordsclearance,as requiredby California Code, Welfare and Institutions Code - WIC § 5405 and Caminarpractices.
- This position may require occasional driving but is not required. In order to drive you must possess a valid California driver license and an MVR sufficientto obtain and reasonably maintain insurability under agency auto liability. Personal auto insurance and reliable personal vehicle may be required and in all cases are strongly preferred.
- Mustbeabletopasspost-offer,pre-employmentmedical anddrug testsas required underStateLicensingregulationsand/oragencypolicies.
- MustobtainandmaintainFirstAid andCPRcertification.
