Are you an experienced medical coder with a commitment to precision and excellence? We invite you to join our team as a Remote Medical Coder , where your expertise will play a critical role in maintaining healthcare data integrity across various Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) within the Defense Health Agency (DHA) . In this position, you will provide vital medical coding services using government systems and electronic health records (EHR) platforms like MHS GENESIS and 3M Encompass 360.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurate Coding: Perform detailed and precise medical coding across multiple healthcare domains, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and standards.
  • Government Systems: Efficiently navigate and utilize government computer systems to manage and code health records across DHA military treatment facilities.
  • Electronic Health Records (EHR): Accurately input, verify, and update patient records within EHR platforms such as MHS GENESIS, 3M Encompass 360, or comparable systems.
  • Compliance and Confidentiality: Adhere to HIPAA and other regulatory standards to protect patient privacy and maintain confidentiality.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct regular quality checks to ensure coding accuracy and compliance with established guidelines.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2-3 years of medical coding experience.
  • Certifications: CPC, CCS, or equivalent coding certification.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in government systems and experienced with at least one EHR platform (MHS GENESIS, 3M Encompass 360, or similar).
  • Attention to Detail: Demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness in all coding tasks.
  • Self-Driven: Able to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
