This position is located at Coalinga State Hospital. 

Under supervison, of a Chief Physician and Surgeon, Department Chief, or Program Director, the Medical Assitant is responsible to providing basic medical support to patients with clinical supervison of a licensed physician. Perform basic administrative and clerical tasks.

Working Conditions

The employee is required to work any shift and schedule in a variety of setting throughout the hospital and may be required to work overtime and float to other work locations as determinded by the operational needs of the hospital. All employees are required to have an annual health review and repeat helath reviews whenever necessary to ascertain that they are free from sympotims indicating the presence of infection and are able to safely perform their essentail job duties. 

All state civil service employees are currently subjected to a mandatory Personal Leave Program (PLP), which entails a reduction in monthly gross salary but provides PLP leave credits in lieu of Pay through June 30, 2027. The amount of salary reduction is dependent upon the classification and associated union Bargaining Unit (BU). The BU for this position is  Service Employees International Union (SEIU) , subject to 3%in salary reduction, accruing approximately 3-5  hours of PLP each month through  June 30, 2027.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a(n) Board Approved Medical Assistant Certification Certificate. You will be required to provide a copy of your certificate prior to being hired.

• This position(s) Require(s) Possession of a valid certification from an agency approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Medical Board of California to practice as a Medical Assistant.
• This postion(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.
• This positon(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
• This position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
