About You:

If you’re an attorney who thrives on preparing cases for trial, with strong skills in litigation, discovery, court appearances, and pre-trial preparation, this could be the perfect role for you. If you are eager to be mentored and learn in this area of law, we’d love to help you grow with us. Experience in construction law is preferred but not required. Note that trial appearances are not necessary for this role.

Responsibilities:
As a Litigation Associate at Phelps Law, you will:

  • Conduct legal research
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and respond to discovery requests
  • Prepare case files for trial
  • Participate in some video court appearances

Requirements

  • New Graduates: Welcome to apply if you have excelled in Contracts/Contract Disputes and are currently studying for the Bar.
  • Experienced Attorneys: Also encouraged to apply.
  • California Bar: Studying for or already received your California Bar License.
  • Litigation Skills: Strong grasp of civil litigation procedures.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Westlaw, CEB, Outlook, e-Filing, Adobe, and Excel.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous and self-reliant with a strong work ethic.
  • Availability: Flexible availability of 20-40 hours per week.
