Wärtsilä’s Legal Department is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and proactive Summer Legal Intern to join our in-house legal team in Houston for the summer. This opportunity is ideal for rising 2nd and 3rd year law students looking to immerse themselves in the field of energy legal affairs and compliance. As an intern, you will support the team on a wide range of legal matters, gain hands-on experience in a dynamic, international business environment, and work closely with our detail-oriented in-house legal professionals.
Successful candidate must be able to work a hybrid role, with a minimum of 3 days per week in our Houston office.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with reviewing, drafting, and editing legal documents, including transactional contracts and agreements.
• Conduct legal research on various topics, such as corporate governance, cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and KYC.
• Help with corporate governance, including maintaining records, filing documents, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Assist in managing legal databases, contracts, and other internal legal resources.
• Participate in meetings with legal advisors and external partners as needed.
• Perform any other legal tasks and administrative duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a law degree at an accredited law school in the US, having completed the first year by the time this position begins.
• Attendance at an accredited law school is mandatory.
• Ability to work a hybrid role, with a minimum of 3 days per week in our Houston office.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong interest in corporate law, contracts, and compliance.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English (fluency in Spanish is a plus).
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Prior internship or relevant experience in a legal environment is a plus, but not required.

This is a full-time internship position for a duration of 8 weeks during the summer of 2025.

The anticipated start date for this position is May 2025, with exact dates to be confirmed.
