Salary Information: $34.48 - $56.18 Hourly

Job Overview
The Woodburn Police Department is hiring Entry Level Police Officers to perform a variety of law enforcement duties, such as:

Responding to and investigating incidents
Patrolling assigned areas
Enforcing laws and ordinances
Making arrests and preserving crime scene evidence
Summarizing events in reports
Performing community policing in culturally diverse neighborhoods
Officers may also be assigned to specialized units or teams within the department.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years old at the time of hire
U.S. citizen or able to become one within 18 months of hire
Ability to pass competitive testing, including reading comprehension, writing skills, physical, vision, hearing, and psychological exams
Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
Willingness to work overtime and a variety of 24-hour rotating shifts, including holidays and weekends
Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent

Certifications/Licenses:

Ability to complete department recruit training and become eligible for Basic Certification from the Oregon Board of Public Safety Standards and Training (must pass ORPAT within required time frames)
Possess and maintain a valid Oregon Class C driver's license or out-of-state equivalent with an acceptable driving record
Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual in Spanish/English or Russian/English
Post-secondary education or degree in criminal justice, public or business administration, sociology, psychology, or related fields
Completed and current ORPAT/PAT/Military Physical Fitness or other valid physical test results
Oregon's Minimum Standards
Candidates must meet the Oregon minimum standards for law enforcement officers and pass background checks as outlined in OAR 259-008-0010-0070.

Selection Process
Apply: Complete a city job application online.
Testing: Schedule and complete the required testing with the National Testing Network (NTN). Applicants are responsible for arranging their own testing.
ORPAT Testing: If submitting ORPAT results, the test must be scheduled separately. Current ORPAT scores (within 12 months of application) are acceptable.
Veterans' Preference Points
Per Oregon law (ORS 408.225 and 408.230), the City of Woodburn grants veterans' preference points in hiring. Veterans must indicate their status on the application and provide the necessary documentation at the time of application.
