What To Expect
Consider before submitting an application: This position is expected to start around January 2025 and continue through the entire Winter term (i.e. through May 2025) or into Summer 2025 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.
Engineering Automation Software is a part of the Vehicle Engineering organization. We are responsible for developing software to accelerate product development as it pertains to building our EVs, energy products, and gigafactories. This organization takes the same principles of adding exciting technologies into our vehicles and applying that same creative mindset to vehicle design, by thinking about how technology and innovation can help improve these processes.
The team’s mission is to automate all the repetitive and data intensive tasks for Tesla’s mechanical engineering teams. At scale this can equate to launching new products more quickly and efficiently as well as delivering significant cost savings to the company. This helps us get lower cost products into the hands of more customers more quickly, directly supporting Tesla’s mission to transition the world towards sustainable energy.

What You'll Do Take ownership of the architecture, design, development, deployment and operations of the backend Vehicle Software stack Collaborate with colleagues in design and code reviews Develop means for deploying, scaling, and monitoring software systems Characterize complex problems related to the scalability, reliability, performance, and security of the software Own projects and always seeks ways to improve efficiency and operations
What You'll Bring Pursuing a degree in Computer Science or a related field of study with a gradation date between April 2025 - December 2025Strong experience in Python, Golang, Javascript, Typescript, React and AWS Data engineering skills such as Pandas, Numpy, Pytorch etc. is a huge plus Experience working in distributed systems, databases and cloud Ability to take a complex challenge and deliver quality simple solutions Excellent communication skills to collaborate with teams globally Self-driven with an analytical, first principles mindset, and a bias for action

Expected Compensation
$36.06 - $50.48/hour + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
