Job Description

Job Overview: The Island House Newport, a brand-new high-end lodging property opening in Fall 2024, is hiring a Hotel Manager to open and operate the 24-key business. This is an excellent opportunity for a hotel rooms leader who wants a strong focus on directly enhancing the guest experience. Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team of front desk, maintenance, housekeepers
  • Ensure the highest quality in guest service standards
  • Engage and manage vendor relationships
  • Optimize guest experience at all touchpoints
  • Manage rates, group leads/contracts, and marketing initiatives
  • Build relationships with neighborhood and community
  • Work in partnership with ownership company to establish smooth procedures for accounting/admin/property maintenance (shared services)
Characteristics of the best candidate:
  • Hands-on leadership and operational involvement; during off-peak months the staff support is reduced and GM is more hands-on
  • Entrepreneurial approach to driving revenues, creating activations, and building partnerships
  • Intimate knowledge of Newport’s vibe, audiences, and attractions
  • Thrives with autonomy, self-sufficient and empowered
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Strong hospitality leadership experience required.
  • Strong hotel operations knowledge and
  • Flexible in schedule and willing to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation.
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities.
  • Excellent technical skills to include a variety of software platforms.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, think clearly, quickly and make concise decisions.
  • Highly developed customer service skills; possessing a friendly approachable demeanor and strong problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with guests, staff, and members of the executive team.
