Job Title: Experienced Horizontal Drill Operator for Fiber Optic Cable

Location: Western Colorado

Salary Range: $27 - $35 per hour

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Horizontal Drill Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in operating horizontal directional drills (HDD) for the installation of fiber optic cables. This role requires a high level of skill, precision, and attention to detail to ensure the successful and safe completion of drilling projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment to install fiber optic cables according to project specifications and industry standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, and job specifications to determine drilling locations and project requirements.
  • Conduct pre-drilling inspections to identify potential obstacles and plan the drilling route.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and other team members to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Document project progress and report any issues or deviations from the plan to supervisors.
  • Conduct post-drilling inspections to ensure the accuracy and quality of the installation.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating horizontal directional drills, specifically for fiber optic cable installation.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, maps, and technical documents.
  • Strong knowledge of HDD equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to horizontal drilling operations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) is preferred.
  • Certification in HDD operations or related field is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and operate equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel.
