Job Description

Position:  Grants & Fundraising Coordinator

Job Classification:  Exempt, Full-time

Reports to:  Development Director

Objective: The Grants & Fundraising Coordinator position will be an integral part of LISTEN's development team, responsible for securing funding to support our mission and programs. This role involves researching grant opportunities, writing compelling proposals, and tracking grant cycles for reapplication maintaining relationships with funders. The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with a strong understanding of fundraising principles and a passion for community service. This position is eligible for primarily remote, hybrid, or in-person work. In-person attendance at Staff Meetings and Events is required, these events take place throughout the year and amount to a maximum requirement of 20 days in-person annually.

Duties and Responsibilities

Research and Identification

  • Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
  • Help maintain the database of prospective and current funders.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of priority programmatic areas and initiatives within LISTEN.

Proposal Development

  • Write and submit grant proposals and reports in a clear, compelling, and persuasive manner.
  • Tailor each proposal to the specific interests and guidelines of the funding organization.
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information for proposals.
  • Participate in the grant appeal process, composing and sending appeals to involved parties.

Fundraising Strategy

  • Assist in developing and implementing fundraising strategies to support organizational goals.
  • Provide input on budget development and financial reporting for grant proposals.
  • Solicit and cultivate an assigned portfolio of donors, assisting Development Director in stewardship and retention.
  • Create, maintain, and perform the functions of an annual giving campaign for individual donors

Relationship Management Assistance

  • Assist with cultivating and maintaining relationships with existing and potential funders.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations and reports to funders as needed.
  • Collaborates closely with Listen colleagues.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and deadlines.
  • Track and manage grant deliverables and report on the impact of funded programs.

Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with departments to align grant writing efforts with organizational needs and goals.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, trainings, and contribute to strategic planning.

Other

  • Other duties as assigned by Development Director or Executive Director.

Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible to enroll in the benefits (medical, dental, vision) after 60 days of employment, and 401k after 90 days of employment. Employees are also eligible for accrual of Paid Time Off.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, English, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in grant writing or a related role, preferably in a nonprofit setting.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and cultural awareness.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a strong attention to detail. 
  • Proven ability to research and identify funding opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of grant writing best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with funders and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with grant management software.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Creative and strategic thinking with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to provide information for background check processing.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently be required to sit at a desk and will occasionally be required to be on their feet, walking and standing. The employee will occasionally be required to reach, handle (hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hand or hands), finger (picking, pinching, fine manipulation). The employee is occasionally required to bend, squat, climb stairs, push, and pull. The employee will occasionally be required to lift and/or move between 5-25lbs and minimally required to lift and/or move between 25-50+lbs.

Work Environment: This position is eligible for primarily remote, hybrid, or in-person work. In-person attendance at Staff Meetings is required, a maximum requirement of 20 days in-person annually. Based on selected candidates request, the primary work environment may be an individual's remote home office, with a hybrid workspace for in-person days. Should the selected candidate prefer a hybrid or more in-person presence, the workspace is in an office setting with environmental controls, with both natural and LED light. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to noise, and occasionally dust. The employee will also experience various seasonal temperatures and elements while attending Quarterly Staff Meetings that may take place outdoors.
