KAIROS, Inc is searching for an energetic, experienced, and highly motivated GPS Test Engineer to join our team.

The GPS Test Engineer position will be highly skilled and motivated to support the United States Marine Corps at the Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA) in Camp Pendleton, California. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, accuracy, and compliance of GPS systems used in various military applications. This role requires in-depth knowledge of GPS standards and proficiency in GPS compliance test software.
Primary Duties: - Conduct comprehensive testing and validation of GPS systems to ensure they meet all relevant standards and requirements.
- Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and scripts for GPS systems and USMC client systems.
- Utilize GPS compliance test software to evaluate performance, accuracy, and reliability.
- Analyze test results, identify issues, and work with engineering teams to implement solutions.
- Maintain detailed documentation of test procedures, results, and any corrective actions taken.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, hardware, and systems engineers, to ensure seamless integration and functionality of GPS systems.
- Remain current with the latest GPS standards, technologies, and industry best practices.
- Provide technical support and expertise to Marine Corps personnel regarding GPS systems and testing methodologies.
- Assist in the development and improvement of test methodologies and processes.
Skills and Qualifications: - Strong knowledge of GPS standards, including IS-GPS-153 Rev D and E, and other relevant standards (MSID-001A and NMEA-0183).
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-6017A and Variable Message Format (VMF) messaging.
- Proficiency in using GPS compliance test software (CTS-153).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Knowledge of Mounted Assured Positioning Navigation and Timing (PNT) System (MAPS) Generation (GEN) II (MAPS Gen II)/Mounted Assured Resilient Navigation (MARNAV) Block 1 (MARNAV Block 1)
- Knowledge of MAPS Maintenance Application (MMA) software
- Experience supporting military or defense-related projects.
- Familiarity with other navigation and positioning systems (e.g., GNSS, GLONASS, Galileo).
- Knowledge of RF signal processing and simulation.
Education and Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in GPS system testing and validation.
Work Environment : - The position is based at MCTSSA, Camp Pendleton, California, with occasional travel to other testing sites or facilities as required.
- The work may involve working in a lab environment and field-testing conditions.
Physical Requirements :
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions.
Clearance: This position is subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. In order to complete the requirements for government security clearance investigation you must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to complete the full background investigation. This position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance.
Compensation: While skills, education, and experience are key factors, they are not the sole determinants of salary. Other determining factors include but are not limited to location, contract budgets and requirements, and government labor category guidelines. The estimated salary range for this position is $125K to $175K annually. KAIROS also provides a comprehensive benefits package as additional employee compensation.
