Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced FHA Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you will manage a variety of mortgage loan documentation tasks, including reviewing conforming and complex loan packages. Your expertise will help us maximize organizational profit while minimizing risk. You'll use your judgment and extensive experience to achieve our goals and deliver exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze credit histories, financial statements, and other financial information to make informed decisions on loans.
- Collaborate with team members to find solutions for denied loan files and identify exceptions.
- Interpret and analyze complex tax returns and financial documents.
- Stay current with program changes and new guidelines, implementing updates with minimal errors.
- Provide outstanding customer service to both internal and external clients.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of available loan products and investor guidelines.
- Uphold confidentiality standards as outlined by security policies.
- Mentor junior underwriters as needed.
- Utilize DU and LP underwriting systems efficiently.
- Enter, access, and retrieve financial data using computer systems.
- Foster constructive and cooperative relationships with team members.
- Actively participate in discussions to enhance department efficiency.
- Be flexible to work overtime when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- At least two years of experience in mortgage loan underwriting.
- Extensive experience with DU and LP underwriting systems.
- DE delegation is required.
- Ability to work in a production environment with set quotas.
- Comprehensive understanding of FHA guidelines and loan products.
- Strong ability to maintain quality control while meeting production expectations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with attention to proper spelling, composition, and grammar.
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work well under pressure with minimal supervision.
Physical and Work Conditions
This role is based in a standard office environment with tasks performed at a computer terminal. It involves partial sitting and walking throughout the day. Employees should be open to working overtime as needed to complete tasks.
