Through canine companionship, peer engagement, and mental health education, we support veterans, first responders, and their families with programs designed to save lives and strengthen communities. Our Board of Directors is a working, mission-driven body focused on sustainability, growth, and measurable impact.

Role Overview
As a Board Member, you will serve as a voting member of the 22Mohawks Board of Directors and play an active role in advancing the organization’s mission. Board Members are expected to contribute strategically, participate in fundraising, and serve as ambassadors within the veteran and first responder community. This is not a passive role — it requires engagement, accountability, and a willingness to help drive impact and revenue.

Key Responsibilities

Governance & Strategic Leadership

• Participate in setting organizational strategy and long-term priorities
• Provide oversight to ensure programs remain aligned with mission and financial sustainability
• Uphold fiduciary responsibilities, bylaws, and nonprofit governance best practices
• Attend Board meetings and serve on at least one committee

Fundraising & Community Engagement

• Actively support annual fundraising efforts tied to organizational revenue goals
• Leverage personal and professional networks to cultivate donors, sponsors, and partners
• Participate in fundraising events, donor outreach, and sponsorship initiatives
• Advocate for 22Mohawks within veteran and first responder communities

Advisory & Organizational Support

• Provide guidance and perspective to the Executive Director and leadership team
• Contribute expertise in fundraising, nonprofit leadership, operations, mental health advocacy, marketing, or community partnerships
• Support program growth and community outreach initiatives

Required Skills & Experience

• Leadership experience in nonprofit, corporate, military, public safety, or community-based environments
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to participate in fundraising and donor engagement
• Understanding of nonprofit governance and fiduciary responsibilities
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative, mission-aligned mindset

Preferred Qualifications

• Veteran or first responder background, or professional experience supporting these communities
• Experience in fundraising, business development, nonprofit leadership, or advocacy
• Strong personal commitment to suicide prevention and mental health awareness

Time Commitment

• Attend 4–6 Board meetings annually
• Participate in at least one Board committee (approximately 1–2 hours per month)
• Support fundraising events and key initiatives throughout the year

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.44 - $20.27 per hour
