As an Environmental Scientist you will have the opportunity to:

  • Review or prepare technical reports and other documents for compliance with approved plans and regulations, and in consideration of applicable guidance and technically supported practices
  • Review or prepare cost estimates and coordinate with the other DTSC staff to ensure adequate financial assurance mechanisms are in place for the selected remedy and long-term operation and maintenance
  • Plan and manage a workload consisting of multiple assignments on projects with sometimes conflicting deadlines to complete assignments on time and within budget
  • Coordinate and conduct on-site oversight of field activities including the collection of field samples, construction of remedies, and remedial system operation and maintenance
  • Interface with members of the public, legislators, the regulated community, other agencies, and the media regarding site information

Desirable Qualifications We Look For:

  • Experience with environmental site assessment and site cleanup
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (CERCLA, RCRA) and framework
  • Experience working with people outside of the organization (members of the public, clients, etc.)
