Our Company

Pennichuck Corporation is engaged primarily in the collection, storage, treatment, distribution and sale of potable water in southern and central New Hampshire. We have two business segments: regulated water utility operations, and non-regulated water management services. Our Distribution center is located in Merrimack, New Hampshire.

Environmental Engineering / Environmental Science Internship - Summer 2026

In this position you will gain field experience assisting and supporting the needs of the Company's Engineering and Water Supply departments with the following activities:

• Participate in long-term source water monitoring and inspection activities including well monitoring, water quality sampling, stream flow monitoring, and inspection of storm water structures;
• Assist Engineering with the responsibility of keeping GIS infrastructure and geospatial information as accurate and up to date as possible;
• Identify and remove invasive plant species from sources of supply;
• Analyze water quality characteristics through laboratory work;
• Calibrate and clean field equipment;
• Complete engineering analysis and calculations;
• Conduct utility surveys using GPS techniques within southern and mid New Hampshire, and
• Assist Construction Project Managers and Inspectors to monitor and document construction of water main installation and facility improvements.

Your qualifications should include:

• Current enrollment in a four-year college degree program in environmental science, civil engineering or environmental engineering
• Exposure to surveying, GIS, engineering, planning, environmental science and/or interest in the water industry desired
• Experience with AutoCAD and ESRI GIS software products such as ArcMap and ArcCatalog is a plus
• Possession of a state driver's license in good standing
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and perform assign duties accurately.
