Position: Entry-Level or Lateral Police Officer
The Cottage Grove Police Department is seeking applicants for Entry-Level and Lateral Police Officer positions. We are looking for individuals with a positive attitude, a passion to serve, and a strong commitment to the department's core values: Service, Empathy, Integrity, and Courage.
Entry-Level Applicants
Complete and pass the Frontline National Testing through NTN.
Complete and pass the ORPAT.
Submit a completed City of Cottage Grove application and resume.
Lateral Applicants
Submit a completed City of Cottage Grove application and resume.
Must hold at least a Basic certification from the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) or an equivalent certification recognized by DPSST.
Veterans Preference:
Veterans wishing to claim preference must provide a copy of their DD214 and the Veterans Preference Form.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Compensation and Benefits for Lateral Applicants
Salary: $63,348-$86,503 annually (based on experience and qualifications) plus overtime and training pay.
Hiring Incentive: $6,000 upon hire.
Leave:
80 hours of vacation and 80 hours of sick leave upon hire.
Vacation accrual based on years of service.
8 hours of sick leave per month.
8 hours of holiday leave per month.
Reimbursement: Up to $1,000 for moving expenses.

Minimum Job Requirements
Age: Must be at least 21 years old.
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
License: Valid Oregon driver's license required.
Language Skills: Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Vision: Must meet DPSST standards as detailed in Oregon Administrative Rules.
Certification (Lateral Applicants): Must possess a Basic DPSST certification or an equivalent certification recognized by DPSST.
