Responsibilities

As the Director of Partnerships & Organizational Development, you will support the Marillac Mission Fund's (MMF) strategic integration of CPPS Mission Fund by developing partnership protocols and processes for reporting, financial accounting and evaluating investment impact. Support Executive Director in developing strategy to expand charitable partnerships that align with MMF's philanthropic mission, Theory of Change, Catholic social teachings and Ascension Foundation mission. Provide support to MMF leadership and team as the foundation prepares to undergo strategic planning, implementation and other ongoing assessment of current practices, systems, and techniques to ensure mission alignment.

Oversee MMF Capacity Building and Leadership support programs, assess user experience and suggest improvements. Strengthen MMF pool of trusted general consultants for recommendations. Build a deeper bench of select consultants supporting the MMF Comprehensive Organizational Assessment and Report (COAR) program. Develop strategy for ongoing program effectiveness, oversee MMF Leadership Peer Circle and other leadership support programs. Develop and maintain a capacity building toolkit as a resource to help grantees with their capacity building project including working with consultants. Assess current methods evaluation of MMF's capacity building investments to measure impact and ROI. Provide technical assistance to staff and grant applicants and existing grant partners to strengthen both strategic partnerships and grant partner organizational development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serves as a strategic thought advisor to the Executive Director and assists in a diverse range of administrative responsibilities to provide high-level executive support associated with complex challenges, current and future funding initiatives, strategies, and budgets.
  • Functions in the role of "ambassador" for the Executive Director and MMF and acts in his/her place as appropriate, including representing him/her in meetings and discussions.
  • Expand partnership opportunities by identifying and cultivating potential partnership with organizations and institutions.
  • Support the MMF team and the foundation's overall strategic direction and goals
  • Contribute support to MMF's charitable grant program as needed
  • Exemplifies MMF and Ascension core values and mission.

Strategic Charitable Partnerships For MMF And Ascension

  • Oversee CPPS Mission Fund integration; effectiveness measurement; evaluation of program and impact; and reports to the Collaborative Governance and Sisters of Precious Blood, O'Fallon
  • Develop and refine internal protocols for partnership reporting, financial accounting, and impact evaluation.
  • Identify and cultivate partnerships with mission-aligned congregations and institutions.
  • Represent MMF at strategic meetings and collaborative funder initiatives as needed.

Organizational Development & Capacity Building

  • Assist Executive Director with MMF strategic planning process, implementation and update reports
  • Oversee the strategy, delivery and evaluation of MMF's Leadership Peer Circle, and capacity building and other leadership-related support programs.
  • Evaluate user experience and program effectiveness; implement improvements as needed.
  • Manage a pool of general consultants and expand the MMF COAR consultant network to better match grantee needs.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive capacity building toolkit for grantees.
  • Support grantees and applicants with technical assistance to strengthen strategic and organizational development outcomes - specifically CPPS Mission Fund grantees.
  • Strengthen internal policies and processes of current capacity building program
  • Attends and gives community presentations that advances MMF mission and internally at Application Review Committee, Executive Council and Program Committee meetings
  • Support ongoing internal knowledge sharing about nonprofit organizational development

Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 5 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required with 2 of those years being in leadership/management OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 3 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required with 2 of those years being in leadership/management.

Skills

Knowledge and experience of nonprofit organizational development, key organizational capacities, systems thinking and trust-based, charitable grant funding. First-hand knowledge and experience of the nonprofit sector within the St. Louis Bi-state region. Must be a relationship builder with exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of stakeholders and associates. Creative, open-mindedness, sensitivity and the ability to relate to people and their needs. Have the ability to engage with people and understand their perspectives and experience and build relationships with external organizational development of grant partners, while overseeing MMF capacity building effectiveness, particularly in areas like capacity development. Specifically, this position requires the following abilities:

  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and strengthen relationships.
  • Strategic Thinking: developing and implementing strategic plans for partnership development and capacity building.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines

  • Knowledge of Capacity Development Principles: Understand systems thinking approach to capacity development and other support to grantee partners.
  • Working knowledge of Catholic Social Teachings, experience working with Catholic entities, and Catholic health and religious communities

Education And Experience

  • Master's degree in social work, business administration or related field.
  • Minimum of five (5+) years of capacity development and organizational development experience.
  • Minimum of five (5+) years experience in a responsible management position including support to executive committees.
  • Minimum of the (10) years working with nonprofits organizations. Experience with area nonprofit sector and issues preferred.
