BIT consists of six divisions - Administration, Cybersecurity, Data Centers, Development, Telecommunications, and South Dakota Public Broadcasting - which serve the State of South Dakota by providing technology solutions, services, and support. The Cyber Security Analyst is a key position within the security division.
Primary responsibilities include:
- monitoring security logs to review for threats, anomalies, intrusions, and/or abnormal connection behavior;
- investigating reports and escalating issues as required to cybersecurity staff and management;
- participating in incident response, computer forensics, data preservation, and investigations related to network breaches and/or unauthorized access of data;
- supporting regular and special reporting and analysis, including reports of vulnerabilities, risks, control deficiencies, remediation strategies, and performance metrics;
- configuring and testing security related technologies;
- troubleshooting and correcting security and data related problems;
- maintaining, monitoring, and modifying security tools, systems, and processes (under supervision of a senior member) and automates wherever feasible using programming languages such as Python and PowerShell;
- performing cybersecurity assessments (network/workstations/applications) as required;
- perform cyber security intelligence research from open-source locations, document them, and review if they apply within our environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have: An associate or bachelor's Degree or certification in a cybersecurity related field is preferred. Experience in cybersecurity is also a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - knowledge of applicable security administration and management;
- ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;
- knowledge of cybersecurity standard frameworks, controls, technology, and solutions; and
- knowledge of incident response management.
