Duties And Responsibilities

Orion is looking for a Curriculum & Instruction Specialist to develop the curriculum necessary to implement a career preparation and pre-apprenticeship program based on grant requirements for Career Connect Washington.

Key Activities Will Be

  • Development of curriculum following guidelines of Career Connect Washington.
  • Instruction of participants in the developed curriculum.

You will have the opportunity to strengthen relationships with community employers, funders, community resources and referral sources, while assisting class participants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education or five to ten years of experience in education/instruction with adults in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrated curriculum and/or workshop development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of teaching methods.
  • Must have a solid understanding of adult learning theory and an ability to teach to a variety of learning styles.
  • Knowledge of disabilities and their impact on functioning and employment.
  • Ability to relate well to a wide variety of people including students, staff, and external customers.
  • Excellent ability to to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong computer literacy skills.
  • Positive, professional image in demeanor and dress to meet the public.
  • Ability to pass background check including the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) background through Background Check Central Unit (BCCU).
  • Possess or acquire First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background screen for a company with federal contracts.

Wage Range

The pay range for this role considers several factors, including but not limited to required experience, skill level, prior training, education, and other business needs.

The wage range for this position is $29.50 per hour to $39.75 per hour, depending upon experience.

  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to reach, manipulate, handle, and hold material.

  • Frequent use of speaking ability to express or exchange ideas, communicate detailed information, or convey instructions.
  • Frequent lifting of 5 or 10 pounds, with occasional lifting to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional exposure to manufacturing shop floor, requiring use of Safety Glasses.
  • Infrequent exposure to excess noise levels, necessitating the use of Hearing Protection.
