Job Summary

Using the skills and knowledge developed as a Corpsmember, you will continue to support the Greater Valley Conservation Corps by acting as a mentor to other Corpsmembers, in addition to other duties specified by the Greater Valley Conservation Corps Leader. Corpsmembers implement a wide variety of projects with parks, schools, businesses, non-profit and neighborhoods, including collection, outreach, and education. Natural resource jobs can and will include, but not limited to; landscape maintenance, tree trimming, demolition, bark projects, habitat restoration and invasive species removal. A Corpsmember Forestry Technician must be enrolled in the Columbia College program, they must complete 500 hours of on-the-job training (OJT), have positive evaluations with Greater Valley Conservation Corps and in good standing with Columbia College.

Requirements / Qualifications

Natural Resource Division:

  • Working in outdoor habitat restoration projects, landscape sites and many other outdoor and indoor natural resource environments.
  • Fuel loads project, invasive species removal, fire breaks, seed collection, etc.
  • Seeding and tree planning.
  • Tree mortality and tree felling.
  • Cone and seed collection.
  • Tree nursery and arborist training.
  • Wildlands forest firefighting training.
  • Habitat restoration projects will include; staking trees, discing, and removal of evasive species.
